Approach from the Side of Defender: Part 5 of 5

After-Action Options:

It’s important to note that you have not delivered any counterattacks to the assailant. Depending on the totality of the circumstances (readiness of vehicle, drive space, seat belt, passengers, third parties, etc.), options may include:

  • Tapping and racking the firearm, giving the assailant direction to move away from the vehicle
  • Accessing your own firearm, giving the assailant directions to move away from the vehicle
  • Driving away
  • Leaving the vehicle, finding cover behind the vehicle’s engine block, surveying the surroundings

The Year in Review

The new year is just around the corner, but before we turn the page it would be fitting for us to reflect on this past year. 2010 was an eventful year in the history of Krav Maga Worldwide™ — a new training center, new web sites, new training programs, and so much more. Let’s take a moment to look back.

Grand Opening of the New KMW Training Center in West LA

On January 30th our KMW Training Center in West LA moved a block up the street to a bigger and better facility. With four spacious training rooms, new amenities, new equipment, and over 25 additional classes, the new training center has managed to accommodate the unprecedented growth in membership and traffic.

Darren Levine Lectures and Seminars Series

We had over eight sold-out lectures and seminars by Krav Maga Worldwide™ Chief Instructor Darren Levine this year. Topics included advanced handgun defenses, third-party protection, knife attacks and threats, and the rules of self-defense.

National Geographic’s Fight Science

Three Krav Maga Worldwide™ Instructors — Amir Perets, Sam Sade and Kelly Campbell — were featured on National Geographic’s Fight Science, a television program in which scientists and martial arts masters work together to analyze the world’s fighting techniques.

Krav Maga Worldwide™ Fights Cancer

Since 2006, Krav Maga Worldwide™, in conjunction with STOP CANCER™ and I.C.O.N./Cure for a Cause, have proudly raised over $600,000 for cancer research, which represents a value of over 1.2 million dollars for cancer research when matched in-kind by the recipient comprehensive cancer center. We are all united by our shared purpose: continuing the fight against cancer and commemorating the memory of our dear friend and mentor Marni Levine (1969-2006), who passed away at the age of 37 from breast cancer.

This year, we had two first-ever events — a CrossFit Competition and a 5K Run/Walk — with proceeds benefitting “The Marni Fund.” The CrossFit Competition took place on Saturday, October 2nd, at KMW Training Centers™ • West LA. The top-scoring male was Caleb Ellis and the top-scoring female was MeridethHarris. The 5K Run/Walk, which took place on Sunday, December 5th, at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA, had over 800 registered donors, nearly 600 of whom participated.

Thank you to our licensees, instructors, members, runners, walkers, sponsors, friends and families for their time, dedication and support over the years. We look forward to continuing the fight against cancer in the new year.
